How Cool is Photo Booth?

This week we got to play with Photo Booth in class.  Can you believe it, we got to play with something in a graduate class.  By play I mean educational and fun.  Those two words don't seem to go together when talking about education.  It seems we sort activities into pedagogically sound or fun filler pages such as holiday word searches.  Anyways, I enjoyed learning about this program and do believe it could be used in a class.  While there is a plethora of activities students could use Photo Booth for, I'm going to go for a more fun activity idea.  Since Valentine's Day was yesterday, I was thinking about how we as teachers have to come up with holiday activities/projects for our students to make for their parents on the various holidays.  It often costs us money and requires us to drive to the craft store.  What would be cooler than letting students do an Photo Booth project for Father's Day, Mother's Day, etc.  Wouldn't it be great to send/email an Photo Booth project to Mom or Dad at work or home.  I could just see Photo Booth projects buzzing around Dad's office, while he proudly shows what his kid just sent him.  It helps students practice language skills such as public speaking, pronunciation of words, speaking clearly, pacing, etc.  This would be a fun activity for students surrounded by sound pedagogic language practice.  Photo Booth can be used in place of public speaking project presentations.  For example, some students just cannot speak in front of other students.  For these students they could record a Photo Booth video and submit it to the teacher.  Same objective just a different delivery method for those students.  Just a fun idea to share.
